Children sustain life-threatening injuries after northeast Fort Wayne crash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A crash on the city's northeast side has caused severe injuries to two children. On Monday at about 5:19 p.m., Fort Wayne Police Department Officers responded to a three-car crash at the intersection of Vance Avenue and Hobson Road. The intersection at Vance and Hobson was closed as FWPD's Fatal Accident Crash Team and Air Support Unit worked to investigate the crash and clear the area, but it has since reopened. On scene, three heavily damaged cars were in the intersection, with one that had flipped on its top. Initial investigation indicates that one of the cars was headed east on Vance Avenue when it blew through a redlight, striking another car heading north on Hobson Road. The collision struck a third car sitting at the traffic light. Four people were injured in the crash, two being children, and were taken to a hospital. One child is in a life-threatening condition, and one is in critical condition.
