Child dead after two-vehicle crash on Barnes Church Circle in Newsoms
NEWSOMS, Va. (WAVY) -- A child is dead after a two-vehicle crash on Barnes Church Circle in Newsoms Monday evening, according to the Southampton County Sheriff's Office. At around 5:50 p.m. on July 13, deputies responded to the 32000 block of Barnes Church Circle for a motor vehicle crash. Deputies discovered that a dirt bike operated by an adult with a juvenile passenger was involved in a head-on collision with a pickup truck. The pickup truck's driver was left uninjured. A helicopter transported the dirt bike's operator to a local hospital. The child was pronounced dead at the hospital on the same night. The crash is still under investigation and charges are pending.
