Car crashes into longtime Vietnamese restaurant in Oakland: ‘We are shaken’
(KRON) -- A longtime Vietnamese restaurant in Oakland is "shaken" after a car crashed into its front entrance early Wednesday morning. Around 4:38 a.m., Tay Ho said a car ran into the entrance, damaging the door and front window. The car "deliberately" drove into the establishment three times in an attempt to burglarize it, according to a GoFundMe set up to help the restaurant. Tay Ho did not report that anything was stolen, but the crash caused "significant damage." It has not been confirmed by authorities whether or not the crash was deliberate. Tay Ho's owners said they are "shaken" and "hurt" by this incident. "To Oakland, we need you right now. Be kind to one another. Look out for your neighbors. This has got to stop," Tay Ho wrote in a social media post. "We are shaken. We are hurt. But we are still here. Tay Ho is Oakland. And Oakland doesn’t quit." "If you’re able, please consider donating to help with repairs, a security gate and recovery. Any support means the world. Thank you so much for your generosity," the GoFundMe states. In just the five hours the GoFundMe was up, more than $8,500 have been raised to help Tay Ho recover. Tay Ho is a Vietnamese restaurant and bar located at 344 12th St. It was established in 2010 and is run by a daughter and mother duo. KRON4 has reached out to the Oakland Police Department for more information. We are awaiting a response.
