Car crashes into Bonney Lake restaurant after driver's foot slips from brake
Two people were taken to local hospitals with minor injuries after a vehicle crashed into a Bonney Lake restaurant late Wednesday morning, police said. Bonney Lake police responded at about 11:40 a.m. to Hungry Dawgs Diner, 21185 State Route 410 E, after receiving reports of a vehicle that had crashed into the building. Officers determined the driver accidentally accelerated into the business after their foot slipped off the brake and onto the gas pedal, according to police. Police said there were no signs that the driver was impaired. No major injuries were reported. Two people were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries. Because of the damage, East Pierce Fire & Rescue's Technical Rescue Team stabilized the building so it could be safely turned over to the property owners. The property owners will coordinate repairs to the affected businesses. Police said neighboring businesses have resumed normal operations, while Hungry Dawgs Diner remains closed.
