Bus driver taken to hospital after vehicle crashes underneath school bus, officials say

A school bus and another vehicle collided in York County on Thursday morning, according to emergency dispatchers. Police, fire and EMS crews responded to the crash on Barrens Road/Route 24 near Little Road in Hopewell Township around 6:27 a.m. According to the South Eastern School District, the vehicle rear-ended a Krapf transportation bus. Ted Czech with York County Emergency Management PIO said part of the vehicle was underneath the back of the bus. The only people on board the school bus were the driver and her children, who are not students, according to officials. The children were not hurt, but the bus driver was transported to the hospital to be evaluated "out of an abundance of caution," the district said. The driver of the other vehicle was not injured, according to Czech. Barrens Road/Route 24 was closed in both directions between Walker and Fairfield roads, but has since reopened.
