Brooklyn Chabad HQ ramming suspect to appear in court; Prosecutors claim intentional act.
A man is scheduled to appear in court on Friday after allegedly driving his car into the Chabad Lubavitch World Headquarters in Brooklyn. Dan Sohail, 36, faces charges related to hate crimes for the incident, including attempted assault, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, and aggravated harassment. Prosecutors are expected to present evidence supporting their belief that the event was intentional and not accidental. Security measures are being increased at houses of worship throughout the city as a precaution. Surveillance video reportedly shows Sohail parking his car nearby, removing barriers, and then driving into the building's doors. Sohail claimed that his foot slipped off the gas pedal when he was arrested. Police have noted previous encounters between Sohail and the Chabad in Brooklyn, as well as mental health issues documented by his family.
