British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from the hospital after a tragic road crash near Lagos that claimed the lives of two of his close associates and team members. Joshua, a two-time former heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medalist, was undergoing observation at Lagoon Hospital in Lagos for minor injuries sustained in the accident. Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed Joshua's discharge on Wednesday, stating that he was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home. The crash victims, Sina Ghami and Latif Ayodele, were honored by Joshua and his mother at a funeral home in Lagos before their bodies were scheduled for repatriation. The incident has brought attention to road safety concerns in Nigeria, where accidents are prevalent. In 2024, the nation reported 5,421 deaths in 9,570 road accidents, with an increase in fatalities compared to the previous year. Joshua had recently won a fight against Jake Paul to enhance his fitness for future boxing challenges.
