Boating accident leaves person with double amputations in Bear Lake County, Idaho
The Bear Lake County Sheriff's Office reports deputies and emergency crews responded to a series of serious incidents over the weekend, including several emergencies that happened within minutes of one another. According to the sheriff's office, responders were called to a boating accident in which a victim suffered traumatic injuries resulting in the amputation of both legs. The victim was flown by air ambulance to a hospital. The sheriff's office credited bystanders and medical personnel for providing lifesaving care before the victim was transported. Another call involved a sinking boat with people still on board. All passengers were safely removed from the water. Crews also responded to a report of a child locked inside a vehicle while temperatures were above 90 degrees. The child was safely removed from the car. Throughout the remainder of the weekend, deputies and emergency crews handled multiple medical calls, a vehicle crash involving severe injuries, and several other crashes that did not result in injuries. The sheriff's office said the victim in the serious vehicle crash was also airlifted to a hospital. Their condition has not been released.
