Boater missing after single-vessel crash on Lake Wedowee
Officials are searching for a missing boater after they were injured in a single-vessel crash on Lake Wedowee. A Hefin man was operating a jon boat when it hit a submerged stump, throwing himself and passenger Russell H. Clanton, 22, overboard. While the boat's driver was rescued and taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for treatment, Clanton has not been found. Search efforts are underway near the Big River area in Randolph County. Agencies assisting with the search include Clay County Rescue, Randolph County Rescue, the Randolph County Dive Team, the Alexander City Rescue Squad Dive Team, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office and Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Marine Patrol Division
