Bicyclist seriously hurt in crash with SUV and pickup on U.S. 98 in Santa Rosa County

SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. -- A 45-year-old bicyclist from Navarre was seriously injured on Sunday morning in a crash involving an SUV and a pickup truck in Santa Rosa County. The crash happened at 11:40 a.m. on U.S. Highway 98 and Prado Street, according to FHP. Troopers say a maroon Jeep SUV and the bicyclist were both traveling west on U.S. Highway 98 (State Road 30) as they approached Prado Street. The Jeep was in the outside lane, and the bicyclist was riding in the bicycle lane beside it. A pickup truck was stopped at the stop sign facing south on Prado Street, north of U.S. Highway 98, according to FHP. Troopers say the 42-year-old Navarre man driving the Jeep turned right onto Prado Street and into the bicyclist’s path, causing the bicycle to collide with the front right side of the SUV. The bicyclist was then propelled in a northwesterly direction and collided with the front left side of the pickup truck, according to FHP. The Jeep driver and a 53-year-old Navarre female passenger were not injured. The 45-year-old male driver of the pickup truck and a 53-year-old female passenger, both from Navarre, were also not injured.
