Arrest made two years after deadly Daytona Beach crash
More than two years after Sarah Keeler’s death, her family says the wait for her alleged killer to be held accountable has been long and frustrating.“It’s been really frustrating,” said Arianna Keeler, the victim’s daughter.Police say 37-year-old Jaboa Burke is responsible for Sarah Keeler’s death. Investigators said Burke was driving in January 2024 with Sarah Keeler in the passenger seat when the vehicle crashed along South Nova Road.Witnesses said the car veered into oncoming traffic before hitting a metal guardrail and a concrete power pole.Sarah Keeler was taken to a hospital, where she died hours later.Authorities said Burke was under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time of the crash, but was not taken into custody that day.“Why hasn’t she been in jail for this all along, considering you had enough to charge her with the DUI, but let her leave that night?” Arianna Keeler said.A warrant for Burke’s arrest was issued in December, and she was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail in March.“It was just a sigh of relief because now I know that justice is finally in the process of being served for my mom,” Arianna Keeler said. The family said they are now waiting for the case to move forward while continuing to remember Sarah Keeler.“She was just such a fine, big-hearted person,” her daughter said.We reached out to the Daytona Beach Police Department, and it said it would get back to us with more information on why the case took so long.
