APD identifies 23-year-old woman in fatal Valentine’s Day crash

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Austin police on Tuesday identified a woman who died in a south Austin crash early Saturday morning, according to the agency. Xochitl Garcia Ramos, 23, died at the scene, APD said. Around 4:18 a.m., APD officers responded to the crash involving a car and a commercial vehicle at the 13200 block of South Interstate 35 southbound service road near Avendia Mercado Street and Puryear Road. Police said the other driver stayed at the scene. They were not impaired and were cooperating with the investigation, APD said. This is Austin's 12th fatal crash of 2026, resulting in 12 fatalities.  The investigation into this crash is still pending. APD said that the fatality information could change.
