Anthony Joshua, former boxing champion, released from hospital after surviving deadly car accident.

Former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has been released from the hospital, according to state officials. He was involved in a tragic car accident in Nigeria that claimed the lives of two of his close friends. The accident occurred on a busy highway connecting Lagos and Ibadan when their SUV collided with a stationary truck. Authorities determined that the vehicle was speeding and had a burst tire prior to the crash. Despite the heartbreaking loss of his friends, Joshua has been given the medical all-clear to recover at home. The governments of Lagos and Ogun states have been overseeing his care since the incident. Following his discharge, Joshua, along with his mother, visited the funeral home where his friends' bodies were being prepared for repatriation. The 36-year-old boxer, whose family is from southwest Nigeria, had been receiving treatment at Lagos's Lagoon Hospital. Pictures shared by the police show the severely damaged black SUV. Joshua, who recently defeated Jake Paul in a match, is also being talked about for a potential fight against fellow Briton Tyson Fury. Prior to the Paul fight, Joshua lost to Daniel Dubois in September 2024.
