Alto man killed in Northern Michigan crash over the weekend

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A West Michigan man was killed in a Northern Michigan crash over the weekend, deputies say. Around 5:40 p.m. on July 3, deputies were called to Falmouth Road and S Dorr Road in Missaukee County’s Holland Township for a head-on crash involving a pickup truck and an off-road vehicle, deputies say. Arriving deputies from the Missaukee County Sheriff’s Office found two people with severe injuries and took them to the hospital. On the way, one of them — a 52-year-old man from Alto — died. The other victim was treated for serious injuries at the hospital, according to the sheriff’s office. Neither were identified by deputies. Deputies did say the suspect vehicle drove off before they arrived. After the crash, deputies found the 37-year-old Falmouth man and his vehicle and arrested him. He was booked into the Missaukee County Jail on charges of operating while intoxicated causing death and operating while intoxicated causing serious injury as well as tampering with evidence. He was not identified by deputies.
