Alcohol believed to be factor in fatal Germfask dirt bike crash
SCHOOLCRAFT COUNTY, Mich., (WPBN/WGTU) -- A Germfask man is dead after a dirt bike crashed into a parked pickup truck Sunday night, according to Michigan State Police. Troopers from the Michigan State Police Manistique Outpost responded around 10:50 p.m. to M-77 near Grant Road in Germfask Township for a reported traffic crash. The preliminary investigation indicates a 33-year-old Germfask man was driving a dirt bike on M-77 when he hit a pickup truck that was legally parked on the shoulder of the roadway, according to MSP. Despite life-saving efforts by two citizens, responding troopers and EMS personnel, the man sustained fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead while being transported to the hospital by EMS. Michigan State Police said alcohol is believed to have been a contributing factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
