Following the tragic train accident in Adamuz, southern Spain, the San Andrés Parish has provided shelter and support to survivors and their families. Parish priest Father Rafael Prados kept the doors open overnight to assist those affected. Emergency teams are still working on rescue operations and victim identification, with 41 confirmed deaths, 43 missing persons reports, and 39 hospitalized individuals. Pope Leo XIV extended his condolences to the victims and families. Fr. Prados shared that the parish sprang into action as soon as they heard about the disaster, providing refuge, food, and support for survivors. The community came together to help, with residents donating supplies and offering assistance. Fr. Prados emphasized the importance of accompanying and listening to survivors as they processed the tragedy. He and Bishop Jesús Fernández González visited Adamuz to show support to affected families, conveying solidarity and comfort. The church will continue to provide support and prayers, planning a Mass to honor and remember the deceased once all victims are identified.
