70-year-old Greens Fork woman, 2 others injured dead in Wayne County head-on crash

WAYNE COUNTY, Ind. — A 70-year-old woman is dead and two juveniles are injured after two vehicles were involved in a crash in Wayne County on Sunday afternoon. According to the Wayne County Sheriff's Department, deputies were called to State Road 38 on reports of a serious motor vehicle crash. This is just east of Jacksonburg Road. Initial reports determined that two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision involving multiple people being seriously injured. When crews arrived, they found that three people had been involved in the crash. A preliminary investigation unveiled that a 2013 Ford Focus was heading east on State Road 38 when it crossed into the westbound lane and struck a 2011 Nissan driven by 70-year-old Sue Gettinger of Greens Fork. She was pronounced dead on the scene, while the driver and passenger, both juveniles in the Ford, had to be extracted from the vehicle. The driver was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital, while the passenger was transported to a local hospital. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team was called to assist as the crash remains under investigation.
