65-year-old seriously injured in overnight multi-car crash on I-70

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A 65-year-old man is in the hospital with serious injuries after an overnight multi-car crash on Interstate 70. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), at about 3:10 a.m. Sunday, a 22-year-old man was driving a 2006 Toyota Tundra eastbound on I-70 in Blue Springs when he drove off the right side of the highway for unknown reasons, crashed into a guardrail and overturned. The Tundra was then struck by a 2022 Silver Ford Edge, driven by a 32-year-old man, causing the truck to spin around. It was then hit by another car, a 2006 Saturn. MSHP said the driver of the Tundra was uninjured in the crash, as well as the driver of the Ford Edge. However, a 29-year-old passenger in the Ford Edge was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. A 65-year-old man, who had been driving the Saturn suffered serious injuries and was taken to Centerpoint. A 12-year-old passenger inside the car was also hospitalized, but was reported to have minor injuries.
