52-year-old man identified as motorcyclist in fatal crash according to GoFundMe
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) - The motorcyclist who died in Wednesday's fatal crash on Horizon Drive has been identified by his family on GoFundMe. Leon DeLap, 52, was the rider and now leaves behind his wife, Tiffany, five children and three grandchildren, who called him Papi, according to his sister-in-law, Veronica Southworth-Johnson, on GoFundMe. Officials haven't yet identified the motorcyclist or announced further details about the crash. The collision happened around 10:10 a.m. in the 700 block of Horizon Drive. Grand Junction officers determined DeLap was heading south on Horizon Drive when the driver of a pickup truck traveling north attempted to turn into a parking lot, resulting in the crash. DeLap was transported to the hospital with serious bodily injuries but was later pronounced deceased. According to GoFundMe, the cost of the funeral and his sudden death are creating a financial and emotional strain on the family. "Your support will allow Tiffany to focus on healing and honoring Leon’s memory, rather than worrying about immediate bills and costs," Southworth-Johnson wrote on GoFundMe. "Every bit of kindness and generosity will help her take the next steps forward." Police said the crash is still under investigation.
