5-car crash in Covina sends at least 4 to the hospital
At least four people were hospitalized following a multi-car crash involving up to five cars in Covina Wednesday morning.The Los Angeles County Fire Department received reports of the collision at about 5:50 a.m. near the intersection of Hollenbeck Avenue and Cypress Street.SkyFOX video showed at least two vehicles with significant structural damage and mangled frames. According to authorities, even though the wreckage was extensive, no one was trapped and had to be freed from their vehicles. The four people who were injured were taken to local hospitals for treatment of unspecified injuries, officials said.Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved or the current status of their injuries.The cause of the crash is under investigation.Police are expected to remain at the intersection of Hollenbeck and Cypress for several hours to clear debris and conduct a reconstruction of the accident. Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes.
