4 killed in head-on crash in Littlerock
Two people were killed and two others were hospitalized after a head-on crash in Littlerock, an area southeast of Palmdale, Friday night. On May 8, California Highway Patrol officers responded to a location near Mount Emma Road and 77th Street E just after 6:30 p.m. Emergency crews arrived to find two vehicles with significant damage — a Honda Pilot SUV and an Infiniti G35 sedan. A preliminary investigation showed that the Infiniti veered into oncoming traffic and collided head-on with the Honda SUV. Two people in the sedan, a man and a woman, were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said neither of them was wearing a seatbelt. Two people from the SUV were transported to the Antelope Valley Medical Center in Lancaster, where they later died from their injuries. Investigators said evidence recovered from the Infiniti indicates that alcohol may have contributed to the crash. Authorities initially told KTLA that all four people involved had died, but later updated their statement to confirm that only two people had suffered fatal injuries. Footage from the scene showed that the road, which was in an isolated area, was closed to traffic as authorities investigated and crews worked to clear the debris. The cause of the deadly crash remains under investigation. The victims’ identities are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. “The CHP urges all motorists to exercise caution when traveling on Mount Emma Road and similar remote mountain roadways,” CHP said in a statement. “Limited sight distances, narrow lanes, and winding terrain demand reduced speeds and heightened attention, particularly during the evening hours. Unsafe passing and excessive speed significantly increase the risk of head-on collisions with devastating and often fatal consequences.” Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call the CHP Antelope Valley Area office at 661-743-6060. After hours, the public can call the Los Angeles Traffic Management Center at 323-259-3200
