36-year-old man dies after 2 trucks collide on Bass Road in north Macon

A man is dead, and another was injured after two trucks collided in north Macon Monday morning. According to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office (BSO), the accident happened just after 10:00 a.m.; deputies responded to the crash on Bass Road near Westchester Drive. At the scene, they learned that the accident happened when a driver of a Chevrolet GMT 3500 utility truck merged into traffic to avoid a collision with a red sedan and was struck by a Peterbuilt 348. The crash caused the utility truck to overturn, and WGXA was at the scene when the driver was extracted from the vehicle. Deputy Coroner Luann Stone confirmed the 36-year-old driver, identified as Robert Thomas Jackson of Macon, died from his injuries in the crash.
