3 dead after small plane crashes near homes in Bowie, Maryland State Police say

Three people died in a plane crash in a wooded area near homes in Bowie, according to Maryland State Police.WBAL-TV sister station, WRC-TV, reports a single-engine plane crashed Saturday night near a townhome community but wasn't found until Sunday morning."It's absolutely a tragic incident that we are here investigating today; it could've been even worse because of the proximity of the crash, literally, right next to a townhome community in Bowie," Maryland State Police spokeswoman Elena Russo said."I couldn't believe it," a resident said. "I felt horrible. It's unbelievable, a plane crashing in your back yard. It's just nervewracking."Police said a pilot and two passengers were on board Saturday night's flight from Ocean City, New Jersey, to Montgomery County.Police said they believe the plane belongs to a flight school in Montgomery County and was in a training flight at the time of the crash.Federal authorities are investigating the crash.
