3 dead, 1 hurt in wrong-way head-on crash on SR 503 in Clark County
A wrong-way driver caused a deadly head-on crash early Saturday on state Route 503 in Clark County, leaving three people dead and one person injured, according to the Washington State Patrol. The crash happened at 2 a.m. July 5 on SR 503 just north of 179th Street. Troopers said a 2011 Dodge Challenger was traveling the wrong way, northbound in the southbound lanes, when it struck a 2025 Toyota 4Runner head-on. The Dodge came to rest on its top, fully blocking the southbound lanes. General area surrounding the crash/Google Maps Two people in the Dodge Challenger—the driver and a passenger—were killed at the scene. Their identities were pending according to Washington State Patrol. In the Toyota 4Runner, a 27-year-old man from Vancouver was injured and taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. A 27-year-old woman from Vancouver who was a passenger in the Toyota was killed at the scene. Their names were withheld, with the passenger’s name redacted pending next-of-kin notification. The Washington State Patrol reported seat belts were not worn by the driver and passenger in the Dodge. Seat belts were worn by both the driver and passenger in the other car. Troopers wrote in a report that they were unaware at that point of whether drugs or alcohol were involved. Both vehicles were totaled and towed.
