23-year-old Crossville motorcyclist killed in Knoxville crash
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — A 23-year-old man died in a motorcycle crash Monday evening, according to the Knoxville Police Department. Officers responded to the intersection of Merchant Drive and Central Avenue Pike around 6:40 p.m. after receiving reports of a crash. The motorcyclist, who had a Crossville address, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. According to KPD's preliminary investigation, he was traveling west on Merchant Drive when the motorcycle suddenly veered into oncoming traffic, striking a Hyundai SUV head-on. The man was thrown from the motorcycle then struck an eastbound Chevrolet Suburban, KPD said. Two children in the Hyundai SUV had minor injuries. The investigation remains ongoing Tuesday, with KPD crash reconstruction personnel continuing to examine the crash, police said.
