22-year-old woman killed in crash on Dav Road in Wilkes County, troopers say
A woman is dead after an early morning crash in Wilkes County, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.On Saturday, just before 6:30 a.m., troopers investigated a fatal crash on Dav Road near J Harrold Drive in North Wilkesboro.Investigators said Kailey Everette, 22, was driving a 2005 Honda Element when she ran off the road to the right, struck a culvert and overturned. She was ejected from the vehicle and then hit a mailbox, troopers said.Everette died at the scene from her injuries. Troopers said she was not wearing a seat belt.Investigators believe speed was a factor in the crash. The road was closed for about two hours while troopers conducted their on-scene investigation. No charges will be filed.
