21-year-old dies in single-car crash in Hillsdale County
LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A 21-year-old was killed in a single-car crash in Hillsdale County early Friday morning. Michigan State Police say the crash happened at the intersection of Meridian Roadand Hoxie Road in Wheatland Township, shortly after 12:30 a.m. Investigators at the scene say that due to severe weather, a tree fell and blocked the roadway. The 21-year-old was driving south on Meridian Road and hit the downed tree. Three other passengers in the car were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 21-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Jackson troopers say they believe alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash. The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) reported a crash at the intersection of US-127 Meridian Road and Hoxie Road around 1 a.m. Friday. Officials at MDOT closed northbound and southbound US-127 at Hoxie Roads.
