21-year-old dies in Lafayette Parish motorcycle accident
DUSON, La. (KLFY) -- A deadly crash involving a motorcycle on Louisiana Highway 724 near Lagneaux Road in Lafayette Parish happened March 13 shortly before 1:30 p.m, officials said. The crash claimed the life of 21-year-old Gavin Recktenwald of Duson. Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop I investigating the crash revealed that a 2023 Toyota Tacoma was traveling west on LA Hwy 724. At the same time, a 2019 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by Recktenwald was traveling east on LA Hwy 724. Authorities say for reasons still under investigation, the driver of the Tacoma failed to yield to the approaching motorcycle and turned into its path while attempting to turn left onto Lagneaux Road. The motorcycle then struck the passenger side of the Tacoma, ejecting Recktenwald. Recktenwald sustained was pronounced dead on the scene, officials said. Standard toxicology samples were collected and submitted for analysis. This crash remains under investigation.
