2 trapped in vehicle after rollover crash in Lake County; 1 dies

CONCORD TOWNSHIP, OHIO (WJW) -- One person died after a one-vehicle crash in Concord Township on Thursday night. According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, it happened just after 11 p.m. on Prouty Road between Auburn and Ravenna roads. A 911 caller said there was a vehicle on its hood and had hit a utility pole, bringing down wires. When authorities arrived, two good Samaritans were helping the driver and passenger of the vehicle. Authorities believe the vehicle went off the south side of the road and hit a utility pole, causing it to snap at the base. The vehicle then went airborne and rolled once, stopping on its hood in the front yard of a home. The driver and passenger were trapped inside. The driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The passenger was taken to the hospital but died. The road was closed for four hours. The crash is still under investigation. It's not clear if alcohol played a factor in the crash.
