2 people injured in suspected DWI crash that shut down WB I-435 Wednesday morning
Two people are injured, one seriously, following a suspected "driving while intoxicated," wrong-way crash on westbound I-435 in Overland Park.A representative with Johnson County MED-ACT says paramedics received a call about the crash near Quivira around 2:50 a.m. Wednesday. Overland Park police say one car was driving eastbound in the westbound lane when it slammed head-on into another car. Officers say the suspected DWI driver received serious injuries, but the other driver is expected to be okay.Ambulances took the two drivers to the hospital, and the Overland Park Police Department shut down the interstate so crews could clean up the crash. It took several hours to clear, but westbound I-435 is back open.
