2 killed, 3 hospitalized in crash in Chicago's Bronzeville community
Two people were killed, and three others were taken to area hospitals, in a crash in Chicago's Bronzeville community late Sunday night.The crash happened at 47th and State streets at 11:50 p.m. Sunday.Police said a 28-year-old man was driving a gray car east on 47th Street when he lost control and hit a fire hydrant. A 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman who were passengers in the car were both ejected and died on the scene, police said.A third passenger from the car, a 21-year-old woman, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition with trauma to her body. A fourth passenger, a 26-year-old man, was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County in fair condition with unspecified injuriesA fifth passenger, a 23-year-old woman, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition. A sixth passenger, a 17-year-old girl, was treated and released at the scene in good condition.The 28-year-old man driving the car was not injured. He was placed into custody with charges pending Monday morning.
