2 killed, 1 seriously hurt after vehicle leaves roadway, lands in trench in Rockville: Police
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) -- Montgomery County police are investigating after a crash left two people dead and one other person seriously injured early Sunday morning in Rockville. The Montgomery County Department of Police said officers responded to the single-vehicle crash shortly after 3 a.m. on March 22, near the intersection of Norbeck Road and East Gude Drive. There, investigators learned that a gray BMW was traveling east on Norbeck Road when it crossed the median into the westbound lanes, left the roadway and landed in a trench. Officials initially said one person died, but later clarified to say that two men died at the scene. Medics took a third man to the hospital with serious injuries, according to police. As a result of the deadly crash, police said Norbeck Road was closed at First Street, and E. Gude Drive is closed at Taft Street. Avery Road is also closed in the area. "Drivers are encouraged to expect significant delays and seek an alternate route," police wrote in a post on the X platform.
