2 injured passengers airlifted to hospitals after bus flips in I-95 crash near St. Pauls
ST. PAULS, N.C. (WNCN) -- Two injured passengers were airlifted to hospitals after a bus flipped on its side in an Interstate 95 crash in North Carolina Saturday night. The single-vehicle crash was reported around 8 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 near mile marker 29 in northern Robeson County, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The passenger bus with 30 to 40 people aboard crashed into a concrete barrier in the construction zone south of St. Pauls, officials said. The bus then flipped onto its side. One passenger was airlifted to Womack Army Medical Center in Fayetteville, while another passenger was flown to a Myrtle Beach hospital, according to law enforcement at the scene. Dozens of people who were not injured in the crash were taken by a school bus to a nearby Saint Pauls exit. An I-95 shoulder area was still closed as of 10:45 p.m. Saturday. Two large tow trucks were visible at the scene, trying to roll the bus back onto its wheels. No other information was available late Saturday night.
