2 injured following wrong-way crash on I-787 in Albany

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Multiple people were sent to the hospital early Sunday morning following a wrong-way crash on I-787 northbound in Albany, according to New York State Police. The incident reportedly occurred in the area of Exit 4. State Police were dispatched to the scene at about 4:20 a.m. An investigation reportedly found that a wrong-way vehicle hit a northbound tow truck head-on. The driver of the tow truck was taken to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, while the truck's passenger was uninjured, police said. The driver and sole occupant of the wrong-way vehicle was also reportedly taken to Albany Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. All northbound lanes of I-787 were closed for about four hours after the crash but have since reopened, State Police said. An investigation remains ongoing.
