2 dead after wrong-way 4-vehicle crash on I-83, police say

Two people are dead after a wrong-way crash on Interstate 83 in York County, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Troopers said a total of four vehicles were involved in the deadly collision in Springfield Township near Exit 10, Loganville, around 10 p.m. on Thursday. According to investigators, Deborah Williams, 75, of Middle River, Maryland, was driving a Honda CR-V when she entered Interstate 83 at Exit 10 and began traveling north in the southbound lanes. Police said an SUV heading south could not avoid a head-on crash with the Honda, causing the SUV to overturn and the Honda to spin. A pickup truck approaching the scene saw headlights coming toward it and pulled onto the shoulder, but the Honda and SUV then struck the truck, according to troopers. Police said a sedan was also unable to avoid the wreck and hit the overturned SUV. 2 killed, others injured Troopers said Deborah Williams, the driver of the Honda, and the Honda passenger were both killed. Authorities have not yet released the passenger's name. The driver and passenger of the overturned SUV were injured and taken to a hospital, according to police. Officials said the drivers of the pickup truck and sedan were believed to have minor injuries and declined transport. The incident remains under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police.
