Update 2/9/26, 11:52 p.m.: New details regarding Monday morning's double fatal crash on US-40 have been released. At around 5:50 a.m. on Feb. 9, a black 2014 Kia Soul was heading eastbound on US-40 near mile marker 108. At the same time, a gray 2024 Ford F-150 was heading westbound and drifted left across the center turn lane and into the eastbound lane. "The Ford pickup struck the KIA head-on at the Cobble Hollow Dr. intersection at Hwy 40," a press release from the Dept. of Public Safety (DPS) states. "Each vehicle had a single occupant." Both drivers -- a 67-year-old man, driving the Ford, and a 25-year-old man, driving the Kia -- were killed on impact, DPS said. The road was closed after the crash and is expected to reopen shortly after noon. No further information is available at this time. Shortly before 6 a.m. on Feb. 9, police responded to a head-on crash involving a pickup truck and a passenger car on US-40. The crash reportedly happened at mile marker 109, between Roosevelt and Myton in Duchesne County. "Both vehicles had single occupants and both are deceased," Lt. Cam Roden, UHP, said. US-40 has been closed in both directions. Authorities are re-routing vehicles to other roads near the scene of the crash. The closure will remain in place for the next two to three hours as police work on the investigation. There is also a second crash at the same location, involving two pickups, with no injuries involved. Details on the cause of the crash have not been released but are expected later in the day.
