19-year-old killed in hit-and-run crash in Carlsbad, driver wanted
CARLSBAD, NEW MEXICO (KMID/KPEJ) - A 19-year-old man is dead after a fatal hit and run by an unknown vehicle in Carlsbad, New Mexico, on Sunday, June 7th. According to officials, officers with the CPD responded to a report of an unresponsive person on the 3700 block of Standpipe Road at 5:48 AM on Monday, June 8th, several hours after the crash was said to have occurred. The preliminary investigation showed that the victim was riding a minibike southbound on Standpipe Road when he was struck by an unknown vehicle sometime after 11:30 PM on Sunday, June 7th. The unknown driver did not report the collision or render aid after striking the 19-year-old man. No suspect has been identified, and officials are working to identify the driver and vehicle involved.
