18-year-old turns himself in for deadly June crash on Bethel Church Road: BSO
A teen turned himself in for a car crash at a west Macon intersection that left a 52-year-old man dead last month. Early Monday morning, 18-year-old Amari Cheely was booked into the Bibb County Jail on charges of vehicular homicide, causing serious injury by vehicle and disregard for a stop sign, according to the sheriff's office. Investigators believe that on June 5, Cheely was driving an Audi SUV on Bethel Church Road when he collided with a Nissan Altima at the intersection of Knoville Road. The driver of the Nissan, identified as Tony Gales, 52, was rushed to the hospital but later died from his injuries.
