18-wheeler hits utility pole, then tree; Ford SUV overturns into ditch in deadly Triad crash, troopers say

A woman is dead and two others are injured after a crash, according to troopers with the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.Troopers said they responded to a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 64 near Cunningham Brick Yard Road. Upon arrival, a trooper was notified that one person was dead and another would be airlifted. Troopers said the initial investigation revealed that an 18-wheeler rear-ended a Ford, which caused the Ford to then be hit by a Toyota SUV. The 18-wheeler then ran off the road, hit a utility pole, and struck a tree. The Ford, after the second impact, went off the road and overturned into a ditch.Troopers said the driver of the 18-wheeler was airlifted to a local hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Toyota was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Troopers said the driver of the Ford, identified as Carrie Craver, 48, died at the scene.
