17-year-old girl dead after fiery crash in Cumberland
EDITOR'S NOTE: This article has been updated to include new information. CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 17-year-old girl is dead after a fiery crash in Cumberland County Sunday night. According to Virginia State Police, troopers were called to a single-vehicle crash on Route 45 South, less than a mile north of Route 669, in Cumberland County just before 10:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 19. A 1996 Plymouth Breeze was traveling north on Route 45 when it ran off the roadway and crashed into a tree. The vehicle caught fire following the impact. A 17-year-old girl of Goochland County died at the scene, police said. 8News reached out to the Goochland County Sheriff's Office for further information on this incident. No additional details are available as of the time of reporting, but police continue to investigate the crash.
