16-year-old boy dies after crash involving an ATV in North Omaha

A 16-year-old boy has died after a crash near Florence Boulevard and Locust Street late Saturday night. Omaha police said the crash happened just after 11:30 p.m. Investigators said the 16-year-old boy was driving a 2026 Polaris ATV northbound on Florence Boulevard when he entered the intersection of Locust Street and was struck by a 42-year-old female driving a sedan eastbound. Officers said the boy was thrown from the ATV and that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.Omaha Fire Department medics rushed the 16-year-old to the hospital with CPR in progress, but he died shortly after arriving at the hospital. Police said the 42-year-old female driver and the passenger in the sedan were not injured. The investigation is ongoing.
