1 person injured in M-6 crash near Grand Rapids
A large pileup involving 20 to 30 vehicles caused the closure of a section of M-6 southeast of Grand Rapids on Tuesday morning. One semi-truck driver sustained minor injuries and was rescued by emergency personnel. The incident occurred in the eastbound lanes near 60th Street SE in Cascade Township, close to the Gerald R. Ford International Airport. Multiple vehicles had slid off the highway, with several semi-trucks blocking the lanes. Stranded drivers were taken to a reunification center at the local library, with support from the Salvation Army. The road closure was anticipated to last for some time as crews worked to clear the area. Poor road conditions and low visibility led to several other accidents in the region, including a crash involving 17 vehicles on southbound I-196 in Allegan County.
