1 killed, 3 injured in head-on crash east of Bangor
WAVERLY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A woman was killed in a head-on crash east of Bangor amid heavy rain Friday night, deputies say. It happened around 11:30 p.m. on M-43 at 46th Street in Waverly Township. The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office says a westbound SUV crossed the centerline into oncoming traffic and hit an eastbound SUV. The driver of the westbound SUV, a 37-year-old Lawrence woman whose name was not released Saturday, died at the scene. Her passenger, a 27-year-old woman from Lawrence; and the two people in the other SUV, an 18-year-old man from Kalamazoo and an 18-year-old woman from White Pigeon, were all hospitalized. Their injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening. Deputies said heavy rain and reduced visibility contributed to the crash. M-43 was closed for about four hours while investigators were on scene.
