1 dead, 2 seriously injured after crash on US-19 in Citrus County
CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — One person was killed, and two others were injured after two vehicles collided in Citrus County Friday afternoon. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Chevy Silverado was traveling southbound on US-19 around 1 p.m. Troopers said the driver of the Chevy lost control of the vehicle south of West Merrivale Lane, and the truck entered the outside shoulder. The driver overcorrected, crossing both the southbound lane and the center median. The Chevy then entered the northbound lanes, where troopers said it struck a northbound GMC Savana truck nearly head-on. The driver of the GMC died from his injuries at the scene of the crash. The driver and passenger of the Chevy were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
