1 dead, 2 injured in west Allen County crash
ALLEN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) -- A crash in west Allen County has left at least one person dead and two others severely injured, and has caused the roads to be shut down in the area. Deputies with the Allen County Sheriff's Office were called out to a crash at the intersection of O'Day and W Washington Center Roads at around 4:05 p.m. Friday. According to a press release from the Allen County Sheriff's Office, the crash involved three vehicles: a concrete pump truck, a silver passenger car, and a red pickup truck. Preliminary investigation revealed that the silver passenger car was heading south on O'Day Road when it approached the intersection with W Washington Road. The driver stopped briefly at the stop sign, but entered the intersection at the same time that the concrete pump truck was approaching from the east. Unable to stop, the pump truck swerved in order to avoid the car, but instead struck the passenger's side, as well as the red pickup truck that was traveling in the opposite direction head-on. A PIO on scene told WANE 15 that the driver of the red pickup truck was pronounced dead, and the driver and passenger of the silver car were seriously injured. The release stated that the driver of the car is now in stable condition, but the passenger is still in life-threatening condition. Police closed down W Washington Center Road from Flaugh to Stahlhut Roads. This crash remains under investigation.
