1 dead, 1 hospitalized after fiery 3-car crash on I-275 in Tampa

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — One person was killed and another was hospitalized following a fiery three-car crash Friday night on I-275 in Tampa. The crash happened near the Busch Boulevard exit and led to part of northbound I-275 being shut down, according to Tampa Fire Rescue. It was not immediately clear what led up to the crash. However, first responders said one vehicle caught on fire and another overturned. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and began searching for possible victims. Crews said one person was taken to a hospital as a trauma alert. A second person was pronounced dead at the scene. Their name has not yet been released. Two additional patients were evaluated and declined medical treatment, according to officials. Firefighters remained on scene around 10 p.m. Southbound traffic on I-275 was also temporarily reduced to two lanes.
