1 dead, 1 critically injured after car crashed into semi-truck, burst into flames
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – One person is dead and another critically injured after a car caught fire from a crash with a semi-truck early Tuesday morning, according to Multnomah County officials. The crash occurred at the intersection of NW Marine Drive and Sundial Road in Troutdale around 3:45 a.m. when a white sedan collided with the semi-truck, burst into flames, and caused fuel to spill out onto the road. The driver of the sedan, 28, died on scene and paramedics brought a 32-year-old woman to the hospital with critical injuries. The pair have yet to be publicly identified. The driver of the truck, 29, was uninjured but remained on scene to speak with officials. Deputies and firefighters shut down eastbound lanes at Dunbar and westbound lanes at Sundial Road to “process the scene and clean up the hazardous fluid spill.” The lanes reopened by 8 a.m. A medical examiner responded to the scene and tow trucks removed the remaining debris from the crash.
