1 dead, 1 critical after pursuit ends in crash on near east side
INDIANAPOLIS - The Indianapolis Metro Police Department is investigating after a pursuit and fatal crash occurred early Friday morning. According to IMPD, around 12:30 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed, ignoring multiple stop signs. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop and a short pursuit ensured. The officer lost sight of the vehicle, but shortly after noticed the vehicle had crashed into a large sign at 1610 East Washington Street. Police say two adult males were inside the vehicle. One of the males were pronounced deceased at the scene and the other was taken to the hospital in critical condition. IMPD is conducting a full internal investigation to make sure the officers followed proper procedure during the pusuit.
