1 dead, 1 arrested following Fond du Lac County crash

FOND DU LAC COUNTY (WLUK) -- One person is dead and another has been arrested following a car crash Sunday morning in the Town of Auburn. The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office Communications Center received a 911 call at approximately 7:55 a.m. for a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Mill Pond Road and County Highway V. The caller, a passenger in one of the vehicles involved, said a vehicle pulled into the path of another vehicle. They also reported that one of the drivers was trapped and sustained a head injury. A preliminary investigation indicates that a southbound vehicle failed to yield the right-of-way to a northbound vehicle on County Highway V. The driver of the northbound vehicle, a 68-year-old Kewaskum woman, sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital. The woman later died from her injuries at the hospital. The 16-year-old passenger of the northbound vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the southbound vehicle, a 21-year-old Campbellsport man, and the vehicle's 20-year-old passenger both sustained minor injuries. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. The 21-year-old Campbellsport man was arrested on suspicion of homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle and was booked into the Fond du Lac County jail. The crash remains under investigation.
