Young man arrested for DUI crash in East Village

A man was taken into custody on suspicion of driving while impaired after a side-impact collision resulted in serious injuries to one individual in East Village on Saturday evening, authorities reported. The incident occurred close to 15th Street and F Street, where officers from the San Diego Police Department stated that the collision took place. The crash involved a 20-year-old male driving a Kia Optima at high speed westbound on F Street and a 37-year-old male driving a Subaru Forester southbound on 15th Street, intersecting the road. The front section of the Kia struck the side of the Subaru. Subsequently, the Kia collided with a parked Ford F-150 vehicle, which was pushed into a parked Toyota Corolla. A passenger in the Subaru sustained severe injuries, including a brain bleed and a ruptured diaphragm, and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical care. Details about their current condition have not been disclosed. Meanwhile, the driver suspected of DUI did not sustain significant injuries. The inquiry into the incident is being handled by SDPD's Traffic Division.
